Pode 2 & Summer Break
Hey everyone!
Steffen here, with good news — we’re working on a follow-up to Pode!
Some of you might have figured that out already. It’s still early, but we completed a playable demo/prototype at the start of the year and we’ve been shopping it around — talking to publishers and investors. the demo has broad swaths of mechanics, design, atmosphere, and a glimpse of the story we want to tell - all packed into a few levels.
We were also just awarded a 2.2 million kroner grant from the Norwegian government. That means we’ll be spinning up full scale development at the start of August.
The team this time around is Henrik, Yngvill, myself and Morten (owners and partners), joined by Tonje and Meghan on art, and Roland on code. Audio and some other stuff will come a bit later.
Meanwhile, Pode keeps doing well on all platforms — including the recent Xbox release. Thank you all for that, It’s kept us making games, instead of scrapping to keep afloat. Given the critical reception of Pode and the steadily growing sales year after year (8 years now and well past profitable) the outlook for funding the next one seems good.
In the time since we completed the demo/prototype we’ve also been exploring, testing, experimenting and figuring stuff out — establishing what’ll become the foundation of the complete game.
Before we get back to work on Pode 2, July is our summer break as always. Have a nice summer and we’ll see you all on the other side of it. Peace!
— Steffen
